In the 1930s, some young German teens favored American and British pop culture; they hung out in secret underground clubs where bands played swing music and listened to contemporary music by acts like Benny Goodman and Duke Ellington. The film's screenwriter, Jonathan Marc Feldman, based the film on this eponymous Swing Kids (Swingjugend) movement.[3]

Review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes gives it a score of 56% (based on 18 reviews) and an average score of 4.93/10.[4] Jonathan Rosenbaum of Chicago Reader described the film as a "corny but sincere weeper", while Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film one star (out of 4) and criticized the screenplay (calling it "murky"[5][6] and including it on his "Most Hated" list).[7] On Metacritic, which assigns a weighted mean rating out of 100 reviews from film critics, the film has a rating score of 39 (based on 20 reviews).[8] The Tech called it "amazing" saying the "well-researched film is wonderfully acted".[9]

After a 31-year career in film preservation, including almost 11 years at UCLA, Scott MacQueen has retired from his role as head of preservation at the UCLA Film & Television Archive, a division of UCLA Library. During his time at the archive, MacQueen supervised the restoration and long-term preservation of nearly 100 films, many from the first half of the 20th century, including Hollywood studio classics and lesser-known independent works that were at risk of being lost.

Like so many people of my generation, I was exposed to classic cinema at a young age through television. All of the major studio films were being syndicated in the 1960s. Many of us saw Hitchcock, the Marx Brothers, and the Universal horror pictures when they first played on local television. And with that, we still had the old movie palaces, rapidly vanishing as the shoebox theater took over the mall.

Taking the time to set up and film your golf swing properly will pay off with a library of great swings from the same angle that can be accurately analyzed during your filming session, or used in the future for comparison as you improve. No matter how good your golf swing is, a misaligned video distorts it and makes it almost impossible to analyze effectively.

When filming your swing on your own in V1 GOLF, use the timer to get set up before recording. From the capture screen, hit the timer icon once for 5 seconds, twice for 10, and three times for 15 seconds, then hit record. The timer will count down, then a beep will sound when it starts recording. Wait for the beep then swing away!

This is the fourth video in the series that has already featured an ambulance service in Valencia, Spain, water rescue in Nové Mlýny, Czech Republic, and a mountain rescue team in Derby, UK. Each film explores the challenges, fears and motivations of these different groups of heroes, often volunteers, as they risk the ultimate sacrifice to help those in need.

"We followed the Pompiers 13 team on a training session wearing the same heavy protective uniforms, air tanks and with the same limited visibility. Temperatures were well over 40 degrees Celcius. Just this short exercise left the crew and I drenched and exhausted, yet the firefighters kept doing this exercise throughout the day. Following firefighters around with a camera only captures part of their world and the physical and mental strength they need, but hopefully this film gives a glimpse into the lives of these very heroic lifesavers."

I was fortunate to see the World premier at the Toronto Film Festival. It was an almost finished product with only some minor changes still needing to be done (mostly tweaking the temporary score and sound) but I didn't notice that it wasn't a finished product. Saving Face is a funny film by written and directed by first time director: Alice Wu. It is about a widow (Joan Chen) who is in her late-40's and has a daughter who is a surgeon. She tries to set up her daughter at these Chinese dances that happen once a week but the daughter is not interested. One day the woman shows up on the daughter's doorstep, kicked out of her home because she has brought shame to the family by becoming pregnant out of wedlock. The mother and daughter have to adjust while the daughter tries to hide her lesbian relationship with her boss's daughter. I liked this film. Joan Chen was very funny in this film. The comedy is good, a nice light touch and on a level everyone can relate too. Although, the fact they are Chinese is not glossed over. The dramatic scenes were weaker in contrast to the comedy but still worked. The three main actresses were good although Joan Chen was the star. If you liked What's Cooking or Mambo Italiano or My Big Fat Greek Wedding, then I think you will like this movie. I am Asian but not Chinese so I do have my biases. Having said that, I think that this film will help break the typical Asian stereotype and will be a mainstream success. Apparently Sony pictures has bought the distribution rights so I expect to see it in theatre some time next year. I give it an 8/10. Definitely worth a look if you want a nice light comedy with a little drama. Note the film is half in Mandarin and half in English but there are English subtitles. I will definitely see it again when it comes out in general release and I will buy the DVD when it comes out.

Parents need to know that this is Steven Spielberg's most violent film, especially in the opening 25-minute D-Day invasion massacres. There's no sugar-coating, no "cartoon violence," no nameless, inconsequential casualties like LucasFilm Imperial Stormtroopers. This is unrestrained, ugly, and dirty combat, meant to make the viewer appreciate the monstrous human cost and tragic sacrifice of the Allied beachhead -- a price mostly paid by young men. Stunned, vengeful U.S. soldiers are seen committing what would be considered atrocities (shooting surrendering Germans, as well as innocent non-Germans who can't speak English). Even though characters are religious -- one prays fervently before killing with his sniper skills -- everyone swears a lot, too. Some "special editions" carry supplementary documentary material, including clips of Steven Spielberg's own 8mm war movies he made as a kid.

The opening D-Day scene is not exploitation, but rather a master filmmaker's true-life recreation of one of the bloodiest battles in human history, to make one appreciate the bravery and the loss. Star director Steven Spielberg, who sought the input of war historians and survivors to make Saving Private Ryan as authentic as possible, tries to show the viewer, after decades of restrained and bloodless Hollywood-backlot war movies, propaganda flag-wavers, and fluffy WWII film musicals, that war is a terrible thing. Even the "good war" to smash the undeniable Axis of Evil that was Germany and Japan.

If you want to protect your products against contamination of dirt and moisture, PE-film packaging is often the best solution. It is an effective way to reduce the risk of damaged products before they reach customers. Hence a correct film packaging minimizes your resource consumption.

One of the main benefits of the RoRo StretchPack technology is how a tubular PE-film is being stretched before packaging. A tubular PE-film smaller than the product is stretched and provide a tight packaging of the product. The tight packaging provides significant reductions in film consumption. In customer cases, we have seen film-saving by up to 60% or more compared to conventional packaging solutions (orbital wrapping, heat shrink, stretch wrapping). 350c69d7ab
